2024 was the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and a year of great significance in the course of Guangdong's reform and development. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Guangdong fully implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Second and Third Plenary Sessions of the 20th Central Committee. It firmly implemented the decision-making arrangements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, adhered to the general tone of seeking progress while maintaining stability, fully, accurately and comprehensively implemented the new development concept, served and integrated into the new development pattern. Facing difficulties and pressures, Guangdong made every effort to ensure the overall stability and progress of the economic operation. The economic aggregate reached a new level, and with a high-spirited attitude of being at the forefront, it vigorously promoted new and solid steps in Guangdong's practice of Chinese-style modernization.
I. General
According to the unified accounting of the National Bureau of Statistics, the regional gross domestic product (preliminary accounting figure) of Guangdong throughout the year was 1,4163.381 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 583.703 billion yuan, an increase of 3.4%, contributing 4.1% to the growth of the regional gross domestic product; the added value of the secondary industry was 5436.547 billion yuan, an increase of 4.4%, contributing 48.0% to the growth of the regional gross domestic product; the added value of the tertiary industry was 8143.131 billion yuan, an increase of 2.8%, contributing 47.9% to the growth of the regional gross domestic product. The proportion of the three industries was 4.1:38.4:57.5. The per capita regional gross domestic product was 111,146 yuan (converted to 15,606.67 US dollars at the average annual exchange rate), an increase of 3.0%.
At the end of the year, the permanent resident population of the province was 127.80 million, an increase of 740,000 compared with the end of the previous year. Among them, the permanent urban resident population was 97.01 million, accounting for 75.91% of the permanent resident population (urbanization rate of the permanent resident population), an increase of 0.49 percentage points compared with the end of the previous year. Throughout the year, 1.13 million people were born, with a birth rate of 8.89‰; 660,000 people died, with a mortality rate of 5.20‰; the natural growth population was 470,000, with a natural growth rate of 3.69‰.
Throughout the year, 1.4356 million new urban jobs were created, and 95,900 people with employment difficulties achieved employment. The average surveyed urban unemployment rate throughout the year was 5.0%.
Throughout the year, the consumer price index remained the same as that of the previous year. By category, the prices of clothing increased by 2.2%, other goods and services increased by 1.4%, education, culture and entertainment increased by 1.0%, household goods and services increased by 0.3%, food, tobacco and alcohol increased by 0.2%, and medical care increased by 0.2%; transportation and communication decreased by 2.4%, and housing decreased by 0.1%. The ex-factory prices of industrial producers throughout the year decreased by 1.6% compared with the previous year. Among them, the prices of means of production decreased by 2.1%, and the prices of means of subsistence decreased by 0.6%. The purchasing prices of industrial producers decreased by 1.3%. Among them, the prices of primary products decreased by 4.1%, and the prices of intermediate products decreased by 1.1%. The producer prices of agricultural products increased by 2.6%.
New and high-quality productive forces were accelerated in cultivation. Among industrial enterprises above designated size throughout the year, the added value of high-tech manufacturing increased by 10.2% compared with the previous year, accounting for 32.0% of the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size; the equipment manufacturing industry increased by 7.6%, accounting for 47.9% of the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size. The added value of advanced manufacturing increased by 6.6% compared with the previous year, accounting for 57.1% of the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size. The output of new energy vehicles was 3.6178 million, an increase of 43.0% compared with the previous year; the output of industrial robots was 246,800 sets, an increase of 31.2%; the output of civilian drones was 6.9369 million, an increase of 74.2%. Among service enterprises above designated size throughout the year, the operating income of strategic emerging service industries increased by 5.1%, and the operating income of high-tech service industries increased by 8.0%. The investment in high-tech manufacturing increased by 8.7%, accounting for 10.5% of the fixed asset investment. Among them, the investment in the electronics and communication equipment manufacturing industry increased by 14.3%, and the investment in the medical equipment and instrumentation manufacturing industry increased by 6.4%. Throughout the year, the retail sales of goods realized by units above the designated size through public networks increased by 7.0%, accounting for 14.9% of the retail sales of goods of units above the designated size. Throughout the year, 2.8316 million new business entities were registered, with an average of 3,500 new enterprises registered per day. At the end of the year, the total number of business entities was 19.0488 million.
Urban-rural and regional coordinated development was solidly promoted. The regional gross domestic product of the Pearl River Delta region increased by 3.7% throughout the year, and those of eastern, western and northern Guangdong increased by 2.4%, 2.1% and 3.2% respectively. The "High-quality Development Project for Hundreds of Counties, Thousands of Towns and Ten Thousands of Villages" was solidly promoted, and the regional gross domestic product of 57 counties (cities) increased by 3.6% year-on-year, faster than the provincial average growth rate.
The achievements of Green and Beautiful Guangdong were remarkable. In 2024, the proportion of days with up-to-standard ambient air quality (AQI compliance rate) in the province was 95.8%, an increase of 1.0 percentage point compared with the previous year. The province added 9 newly built sewage treatment facilities in cities (county towns), with an additional treatment capacity of 426,000 tons per day. Among the 270 surface water provincial assessment monitoring sections in the province, the proportion of sections with Class I-II water quality was 70.9%, the proportion of sections with Class III water quality was 23.1%, the proportion of sections with Class IV water quality was 6.0%, and the sections with Class V and inferior Class V water quality were all cleared.
II. Agriculture
Throughout the year, the sown area of grain crops was 33.5513 million mu, an increase of 0.3% compared with the previous year; the planting area of sugarcane was 1.7624 million mu, a decrease of 4.2%; the planting area of oil crops was 5.4976 million mu, an increase of 1.2%; the planting area of vegetables was 22.3400 million mu, an increase of 2.4%; the planting area of Chinese herbal medicines was 1.1281 million mu, an increase of 1.0%.
Throughout the year, the grain output was 13.1343 million tons, an increase of 2.2% compared with the previous year; the sugarcane output was 10.5264 million tons, a decrease of 3.2%; the output of oil crops was 1.2315 million tons, an increase of 1.8%; the vegetable output was 42.4501 million tons, an increase of 3.6%; the output of garden fruits was 20.5619 million tons, an increase of 3.2%; the tea output was 191,700 tons, an increase of 7.2%.
Throughout the year, the output of pork, beef, mutton and poultry meat was 5.0064 million tons, an increase of 0.4% compared with the previous year. Among them, the pork output was 3.0518 million tons, an increase of 2.4%; the poultry meat output was 1.8948 million tons, a decrease of 2.6%. At the end of the year, the number of live pigs on hand was 22.4746 million, an increase of 9.7%; the number of live pigs slaughtered was 38.1771 million, an increase of 0.6%.
Throughout the year, the aquatic product output was 9.6635 million tons, an increase of 4.6% compared with the previous year. Among them, the output of marine products was 5.0834 million tons, an increase of 6.3%; the output of freshwater products was 4.5801 million tons, an increase of 2.7%. At the end of the year, the total power of agricultural machinery was 26.1570 million kilowatts, an increase of 1.1% compared with the previous year.
III. Industry and Construction
Throughout the year, the added value of all industries increased by 4.4% compared with the previous year. The added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 4.2%. By economic type, the added value of shareholding enterprises increased by 5.6% year-on-year, that of foreign-funded enterprises and enterprises with investment from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan increased by 1.7%, and that of state-controlled enterprises increased by 2.8%. By enterprise size, the added value of large enterprises increased by 3.6%, that of medium-sized enterprises increased by 2.5%, and that of small and micro enterprises increased by 6.5%. By sector, the added value of the mining industry increased by 1.2% year-on-year, that of the manufacturing industry increased by 4.3%, and that of the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas and water increased by 5.2%. By major industry, the added value of the computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry increased by 13.4% year-on-year, that of the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry increased by 2.7%, and that of the automobile manufacturing industry decreased by 1.2%.
Among high-tech manufacturing industries above designated size throughout the year, the electronics and communication equipment manufacturing industry increased by 11.9%, the aviation, aerospace and equipment manufacturing industry increased by 17.6%, the computer and office equipment manufacturing industry increased by 6.4%, and the medical instrument and apparatus manufacturing industry increased by 4.6%. Among advanced manufacturing industries above designated size, the high-end electronic information manufacturing industry increased by 12.9%, the petrochemical industry increased by 9.0%, and the new material manufacturing industry increased by 5.0%.
Throughout the year, industrial enterprises above designated size achieved a total profit of 1,036.723 billion yuan, a decrease of 2.6% compared with the previous year. By economic type, the profit of state-controlled enterprises was 148.925 billion yuan, a decrease of 8.9%; that of shareholding enterprises was 686.787 billion yuan, a decrease of 3.0%, and that of foreign-funded enterprises and enterprises with investment from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan was 345.408 billion yuan, a decrease of 1.6%. By industry, the profit of the mining industry was 58.382 billion yuan, a decrease of 1.4%; that of the manufacturing industry was 874.608 billion yuan, a decrease of 3.8%; that of the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas and water was 103.733 billion yuan, an increase of 8.5%. Throughout the year, the cost per 100 yuan of operating income of industrial enterprises above designated size was 83.60 yuan, an increase of 0.18 yuan; the profit rate of operating income was 5.3%, a decrease of 0.3 percentage points.
Throughout the year, the added value of the construction industry in the whole society was 701.020 billion yuan, an increase of 4.9% compared with the previous year. Throughout the year, there were 13,281 general contracting or specialized contracting construction enterprises with qualification grades, an increase of 7.5%; the total output value of construction completed by general contracting or specialized contracting was 2,636.431 billion yuan, an increase of 3.8%.
IV. Service Industry
The added value of the wholesale and retail industry throughout the year was 1,347.239 billion yuan, an increase of 0.6% compared with the previous year; the added value of the transportation, storage and postal industry was 510.611 billion yuan, an increase of 9.9%; the added value of the accommodation and catering industry was 241.815 billion yuan, an increase of 3.6%; the added value of the financial industry was 1,238.997 billion yuan, an increase of 4.0%; the added value of the real estate industry was 1,045.587 billion yuan, a decrease of 2.2%. The added value of modern service industries was 5,253.977 billion yuan, an increase of 3.3%.
Service enterprises above designated size achieved an operating income of 5,742.407 billion yuan throughout the year, an increase of 8.1% compared with the previous year; the total profit was 674.175 billion yuan, an increase of 5.6%. By industry, the operating income of the information transmission, software and information technology service industry increased by 8.9%, that of the transportation, storage and postal industry increased by 14.5%, that of the leasing and business service industry increased by 7.3%, that of the real estate industry (excluding real estate development and operation) increased by 0.4%, that of the scientific research and technical service industry increased by 0.3%, that of the culture, sports and entertainment industry increased by 1.1%, and that of the resident service, repair and other service industry increased by 2.4%.
The total volume of freight transportation throughout the year was 3.848 billion tons, an increase of 0.5% compared with the previous year. The freight turnover volume was 3,110.743 billion ton-kilometers, an increase of 4.8%. The cargo throughput of ports reached 2.283 billion tons, an increase of 3.1%. Among them, the foreign trade cargo throughput was 820 million tons, an increase of 11.2%; the domestic trade cargo throughput was 1.461 billion tons, a decrease of 1.0%. The container throughput of ports was 77.4989 million TEUs, an increase of 7.5%.
The total volume of passenger transportation throughout the year was 914.06 million people, an increase of 10.6% compared with the previous year. The passenger turnover volume was 415.822 billion person-kilometers, an increase of 17.8%.
At the end of the year, the highway mileage open to traffic was 224,000 kilometers, of which the expressway mileage was 11,743 kilometers, an increase of 2.3% compared with the end of the previous year. At the end of the year, the railway operation mileage was 5,965 kilometers, of which the operation mileage of high-speed and express railways with a standard of 200km/h or above was 2,960 kilometers. The proportion of high-speed rail passenger volume in the total railway passenger volume was 84.8%. At the end of the year, the number of civilian motor vehicles in stock was 32.3528 million, an increase of 5.4%, of which the number of private cars was 27.2602 million, an increase of 6.4%. The number of civilian sedans in stock was 18.4757 million, an increase of 4.0%, of which the number of private sedans was 17.4082 million, an increase of 4.5%.
The total volume of postal and telecommunications services completed throughout the year was 644.734 billion yuan, an increase of 17.4% compared with the previous year. Among them, the total volume of postal services was 448.901 billion yuan, an increase of 23.1%; the express delivery business volume was 42.589 billion pieces, an increase of 19.5%; the express delivery business income was 304.154 billion yuan, an increase of 6.9%; the total volume of telecommunications services was 195.834 billion yuan, an increase of 6.1%. At the end of the year, the total number of telephone users was 199.5251 million, an increase of 6.0%; among them, the number of fixed-line telephone users was 16.7121 million, a decrease of 6.3%; the number of mobile phone users was 182.8130 million, an increase of 7.2%. At the end of the year, the number of (fixed) Internet broadband users was 50.4954 million, an increase of 4.7%. At the end of the year, the number of mobile Internet users was 165.7290 million, an increase of 5.4%.
V. Domestic Trade
The total retail sales of social consumer goods throughout the year was 4,502.918 billion yuan, an increase of 0.8% compared with the previous year. By operation location, the retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas was 3,993.039 billion yuan, an increase of 0.6%; the retail sales of consumer goods in rural areas was 509.879 billion yuan, an increase of 1.8%. By consumption type, the retail sales of goods was 3,968.041 billion yuan, an increase of 0.8%; the catering income was 534.876 billion yuan, an increase of 0.2%.
Among the retail sales of goods by units above the designated size, the sales of grain, oil, food, beverages, tobacco and alcohol increased by 8.3% compared with the previous year, the sales of clothing, shoes, hats, and textile products decreased by 2.4%, the sales of cosmetics increased by 4.9%, the sales of gold, silver and jewelry decreased by 6.1%, the sales of daily necessities increased by 5.6%, the sales of sports and entertainment products increased by 11.8%, the sales of books, newspapers and magazines decreased by 7.4%, the sales of household appliances and audio-visual equipment increased by 16.7%, the sales of traditional Chinese and Western medicines increased by 3.4%, the sales of cultural and office supplies increased by 11.7%, the sales of furniture increased by 12.7%, the sales of communication equipment decreased by 1.5%, the sales of petroleum and its products decreased by 7.0%, the sales of building and decoration materials increased by 16.6%, and the sales of automobiles decreased by 10.6%.
VI. Fixed Asset Investment
The fixed asset investment throughout the year decreased by 4.5% compared with the previous year, of which the investment in equipment, tools and appliances increased by 18.5%. By region, the Pearl River Delta decreased by 4.3%, eastern Guangdong decreased by 5.2%, western Guangdong decreased by 3.4%, and northern Guangdong decreased by 5.5%.
In fixed asset investment, the investment in the primary industry decreased by 15.8% compared with the previous year, the investment in the secondary industry increased by 6.6%, and the investment in the tertiary industry decreased by 9.9%. Private investment accounted for 43.6% of fixed asset investment. Industrial investment increased by 6.7%, accounting for 37.2% of fixed asset investment. Infrastructure investment increased by 0.2%, accounting for 29.4% of fixed asset investment. Among them, the investment in the production and supply of electricity and heat increased by 5.5%, the investment in railway transportation increased by 17.7%, the investment in air transportation increased by 26.2%, and the investment in the Internet and related services decreased by 0.2%.
The real estate development investment throughout the year was 1,119.797 billion yuan, a decrease of 18.2% compared with the previous year. By region, it was 977.409 billion yuan in the Pearl River Delta, a decrease of 16.8%; 50.033 billion yuan in eastern Guangdong, a decrease of 17.9%; 47.273 billion yuan in western Guangdong, a decrease of 29.2%; and 45.082 billion yuan in northern Guangdong, a decrease of 32.0%. By use, the investment in the development of commercial housing was 801.552 billion yuan, a decrease of 19.4%; the investment in office buildings was 81.923 billion yuan, a decrease of 5.3%; and the investment in commercial business premises was 85.998 billion yuan, a decrease of 17.5%.
The sales area of newly built commercial housing throughout the year was 74.8848 million square meters, a decrease of 21.8% compared with the previous year; among them, the sales area of commercial housing was 58.9101 million square meters, a decrease of 23.1%.
Throughout the year, 286,800 sets (rooms) of affordable housing were started and raised in the province. 2,500 urban old communities were newly started to be renovated, involving 600,000 households.
VII. Foreign Economy
The total value of goods import and export throughout the year was 9,112.64 billion yuan, an increase of 9.8% compared with the previous year, accounting for 20.8% of the national total. Among them, the export was 5,891.56 billion yuan, an increase of 8.4%; the import was 3,221.07 billion yuan, an increase of 12.5%. The trade surplus was 2,670.49 billion yuan, an increase of 3.8%. Among them, the import and export volume to countries (regions) along the Belt and Road Initiative was 2,547.26 billion yuan, an increase of 8.8%. The import and export volume of private enterprises was 5,799.05 billion yuan, an increase of 15.2% compared with the previous year, accounting for 63.6% of the total import and export volume. The export of high-tech products was 1,828.46 billion yuan, an increase of 10.0%, accounting for 31.0% of the total export volume.
Throughout the year, 26,213 newly established foreign direct investment enterprises were set up, an increase of 20.9% compared with the previous year. The actual use of foreign capital was 101.20 billion yuan, of which the actual investment amount from ASEAN countries was 8.95 billion yuan, an increase of 28.1%.
The newly approved actual investment amount of Chinese parties overseas throughout the year was 21.07 billion US dollars. The turnover of overseas contracted projects completed was 14.20 billion US dollars; the total contract wage amount of newly signed labor service personnel in foreign labor cooperation was 2.08 billion US dollars, and the actual income amount of labor service personnel was 1.20 billion US dollars; the number of people working overseas at the end of the year for contracted projects and labor cooperation was 89,000.
VIII. Finance and Banking
The local general public budget revenue of the whole province throughout the year was 1,353.327 billion yuan, a decrease of 2.3%; among them, the tax revenue was 981.710 billion yuan, a decrease of 4.2%. The local general public budget expenditure throughout the year was 1,795.640 billion yuan, a decrease of 3.0%. Among them, the education expenditure was 404.922 billion yuan, an increase of 1.0%; the social security and employment expenditure was 228.074 billion yuan, an increase of 1.1%. The expenditure on people's livelihood was 1,278.921 billion yuan, accounting for 71.2% of the local general public budget expenditure.
At the end of the year, the balance of various deposits in local and foreign currencies of financial institutions in the whole province was 36,649.345 billion yuan, an increase of 4.5% compared with the end of the previous year; the balance of various loans was 28,395.607 billion yuan, an increase of 4.6%. At the end of the year, the balance of deposits in local and foreign currencies of rural cooperative institutions in the whole province was 4,320.140 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2%; the balance of loans was 2,992.262 billion yuan, an increase of 4.5%. The profit (after tax) of banking financial institutions in the year was 181.863 billion yuan. At the end of the year, the non-performing loan ratio of banking financial institutions was 1.55%.
At the end of the year, there were 875 listed companies on the Shanghai, Shenzhen and Beijing Stock Exchanges in the province's securities market, with a market value of 14.04 trillion yuan; there were 846 enterprises listed on the National Equities Exchange and Quotations System (New Third Board). Throughout the year, various enterprises directly financed 947.389 billion yuan through the capital market; among them, the IPO financing was 11.315 billion yuan, the refinancing of listed companies in the stock market was 30.745 billion yuan, the financing in the Beijing Stock Exchange and the New Third Board market was 1.160 billion yuan, and the financing of corporate bonds, convertible bonds, exchangeable bonds, enterprise bonds and asset-backed securities (ABS) was 904.168 billion yuan. There were 30 securities companies, 1,619 branches of securities companies, and the number of stock accounts was 268.0773 million, an increase of 8.6%; among them, the stock trading volume was 87.24 trillion yuan, an increase of 21.7%. There were 36 fund companies, managing a total of 4,051 public funds; the fund scale was 10.32 trillion shares, an increase of 11.1%; the net value of the fund was 11.29 trillion yuan, an increase of 16.5%. There were 23 futures companies, and the agency trading volume of the companies throughout the year was 294.04 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.7%. There were 4,731 private fund managers registered and filed with the Asset Management Association of China, managing 31,380 private funds, with a fund scale of 3,255.57 billion yuan.
The premium income achieved throughout the year was 730.085 billion yuan, an increase of 7.0% compared with the previous year. Among them, the premium income of life insurance business was 407.231 billion yuan, an increase of 8.7%; the premium income of property insurance business was 179.109 billion yuan, an increase of 5.7%; the premium income of health insurance and accidental injury insurance business was 143.745 billion yuan, an increase of 4.1%. The cumulative indemnity and benefit payment throughout the year was 269.446 billion yuan, an increase of 21.1%. Among them, the indemnity payment of life insurance business was 107.681 billion yuan, an increase of 54.4%; the indemnity payment of property insurance business was 113.359 billion yuan, an increase of 7.3%; the indemnity payment of health insurance and accidental injury insurance was 48.41 billion yuan, an increase of 2.9%.
IX. Residents' Income, Consumption and Social Security
The per capita disposable income of residents across the province throughout the year was 51,474 yuan, an increase of 4.4% compared with the previous year. By urban and rural areas, the per capita disposable income of urban residents was 61,629 yuan, an increase of 3.9%; the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 26,729 yuan, an increase of 6.3%.
The per capita consumption expenditure of residents across the province throughout the year was 35,818 yuan, an increase of 4.3% compared with the previous year. By urban and rural areas, the per capita consumption expenditure of urban residents was 41,055 yuan, an increase of 4.4%; the per capita consumption expenditure of rural residents was 23,057 yuan, an increase of 3.8%. The Engel coefficient of residents across the province was 32.7%, an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared with the previous year; among them, it was 31.4% in urban areas and 38.4% in rural areas.
At the end of the year, 54.7381 million people in the province participated in the basic old-age insurance for urban employees (including retirees), an increase of 2.0% compared with the previous year. The number of people participating in the basic old-age insurance for urban and rural residents was 27.4517 million, the number of people participating in the basic medical insurance for employees was 49.9781 million, the number of people participating in the basic medical insurance for urban and rural residents was 61.8982 million, the number of people participating in unemployment insurance was 37.3060 million, the number of people participating in work-related injury insurance was 42.0279 million, and the number of people participating in maternity insurance was 39.5085 million.
The total income of the old-age, unemployment, and work-related injury insurance funds across the province throughout the year (excluding transactions between levels) was 847.427 billion yuan, an increase of 11.6% compared with the previous year, and the cumulative balance at the end of the year was 2,105.577 billion yuan, an increase of 14.0%. The total income of the coordinated funds for basic medical insurance and maternity insurance across the province throughout the year was 249.830 billion yuan; the cumulative balance at the end of the year was 435.514 billion yuan, an increase of 10.3%. At the end of the year, the number of urban residents receiving the minimum living allowance was 145,000, and the number of rural residents receiving the minimum living allowance was 1.061 million. Throughout the year, 1.2363 million urban employees received unemployment insurance benefits.
There were 241,000 beds in various civil affairs service institutions providing accommodation, and 110,000 people were adopted and rescued. There were 32,000 community comprehensive service institutions and facilities across the province, and 21,000 community elderly care service institutions and facilities. Throughout the year, a total of 22.65 billion yuan worth of welfare lottery tickets were issued and sold, raising 6.52 billion yuan in public welfare funds from welfare lottery tickets. At the end of the year, there were 71,000 social organizations per 10,000 people. The number of registered volunteers was 22.2605 million, and the average cumulative hours of volunteer service per registered volunteer was 26.23 hours.
X. Science, Technology and Education
The total number of patent authorizations in the province was 692,600, ranking first in the country; among them, the number of invention patent authorizations was 168,800, an increase of 17.9%. The number of PCT international patent applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty throughout the year was 23,400. As of the end of the year, the effective number of invention patents in the province was 792,300, and the number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 people was 28.94. Throughout the year, 113,100 enterprises obtained 592,200 patent authorizations, among which 36,300 enterprises obtained 146,100 invention patent authorizations. The comprehensive energy consumption of industrial enterprises above designated size throughout the year was 224.8143 million tons of standard coal, an increase of 1.3% compared with the previous year. The energy consumption per unit of industrial added value decreased by 1.1%. The electricity consumption of the whole society was 912.103 billion kWh, an increase of 7.3%. The area of inshore sea waters in the province that met the first-class seawater quality standard accounted for 81.5%, the second-class seawater accounted for 9.1%, the third-class seawater accounted for 2.0%, the fourth-class seawater accounted for 1.7%, and the seawater of inferior fourth-class accounted for 5.7%.
