The Chongqing Municipal People's Government held a press conference on November 6th, announcing the adjustment of some administrative divisions: Jiangbei District and Yubei District will be revoked, Liangjiang New Area will be established, and the administrative boundaries between Beibei District and Liangjiang New Area will be scientifically delineated.According to the plan, this administrative division adjustment is based on Liangjiang New Area, a national-level new area. Specifically:
- Jiangbei District and Yubei District will be revoked, and Liangjiang New Area will be established, governing the original administrative areas of Jiangbei District, the original Yubei District (excluding Dawang Town, Tongjing Town, Dasheng Town, Xinglong Town, and Cizhu Town), as well as Shuuitu Sub-district, Fuxing Sub-district, Caijiagang Sub-district, Shijialiang Town, and Tongjiaxi Town of Beibei District;
- The five towns of Dawang Town, Tongjing Town, Dasheng Town, Xinglong Town, and Cizhu Town in the original Yubei District, which share similar territorial spatial positioning with Beibei District, will be placed under the jurisdiction of Beibei District.
After this adjustment, Chongqing Municipality will have jurisdiction over 25 districts, 8 counties, and 4 autonomous counties.
