At the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, the resident population of Xiamen City was 5.308 million, with a permanent resident urbanization rate of 90.19%. The birth rate for the year was 7.56‰, the mortality rate was 3.40‰, and the natural growth rate was 4.16‰, which decreased by 1.12‰ compared to the previous year.

The registered population of the whole city was 2.93 million, with a registered urbanization rate of 87.6%. Among the registered population, there were 2.5659 million urban residents. The total population of Siming and Huli districts was 1.319 million, accounting for 45.0% of the registered population of the whole city. Among the registered population, there were 1.4246 million male residents and 1.5054 million female residents, with a gender ratio of 94.63 (with women as 100).
