The year 2024 marked the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and was a crucial year for achieving the goals and tasks of the 14th Five-Year Plan. Facing the complex and severe situation of increased external pressures and more internal difficulties, under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the whole city adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Second and Third Plenary Sessions of the 20th Central Committee, as well as General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches on Beijing. It firmly implemented the decisions and arrangements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, adhered to the general principle of pursuing progress while maintaining stability, fully, accurately and comprehensively implemented the new development concept, deepened the coordinated service of the "Five Initiatives" and integration into the new development pattern, implemented and refined various policies and measures, accelerated the cultivation of new quality productive forces, the economic operation maintained a stable and positive trend, social and people's livelihood was effectively guaranteed, and new achievements were made in the high-quality development of the capital.
I. General Overview
According to preliminary accounting, the regional gross domestic product [2] for the whole year was 4,984.31 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2% at constant prices compared with the previous year. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 11.64 billion yuan, an increase of 1.5%; the added value of the secondary industry was 722.68 billion yuan, an increase of 5.7%; and the added value of the tertiary industry was 4,249.99 billion yuan, an increase of 5.1%. The structure of the three industries was 0.2:14.5:85.3. Calculated according to the permanent resident population, the per capita regional gross domestic product of the whole city was 228,000 yuan (equivalent to 32,000 US dollars calculated at the annual average exchange rate).

At the end of the year, the permanent resident population [5] of the whole city was 21.832 million, a decrease of 26,000 compared with the end of the previous year. Among them, the urban population was 19.260 million, accounting for 88.2% of the permanent resident population. The birth rate of the permanent resident population was 6.09‰, the death rate was 6.08‰, and the natural growth rate was 0.01‰. Throughout the year, 299,000 new urban jobs were created, 18,000 more than the previous year. The average urban surveyed unemployment rate was 4.1%.

The consumer price index for the whole year increased by 0.1% compared with the previous year. The ex-factory prices of industrial producers decreased by 1.5%, and the purchasing prices of industrial producers decreased by 0.9%. The producer prices of agricultural products decreased by 1.2%. In December, the month-on-month index of the sales prices of newly built commercial residential buildings was 99.9, and the year-on-year index was 94.6; the month-on-month index of the sales prices of second-hand residential buildings was 100.5, and the year-on-year index was 95.5.

The general public budget revenue completed throughout the year was 637.27 billion yuan, an increase of 3.1% compared with the previous year. Among them, tax revenue was 547.32 billion yuan, an increase of 2.2%. The general public budget expenditure of the whole city was 839.65 billion yuan, an increase of 5.3% compared with the previous year. Tax cuts, fee reductions and tax rebates exceeding 150 billion yuan were implemented to support scientific and technological innovation and the development of the manufacturing industry.
New growth drivers are gathering momentum. Accelerate the construction of a benchmark city for the global digital economy. Calculated at current prices, the added value of the digital economy in the whole city increased by 7.7% compared with the previous year, among which the added value of the core industries of the digital economy increased by 10.1%. The added value of high-tech industries and strategic emerging industries (with some overlap between the two) reached 1,493.21 billion yuan and 1,253.02 billion yuan respectively. Calculated at current prices, they increased by 6.4% and 5.7% respectively, accounting for 30.0% and 25.1% of the regional gross domestic product, an increase of 0.4 and 0.1 percentage points respectively compared with the previous year. Investment in high-tech industries increased by 37.2%, among which investment in high-tech manufacturing and high-tech service industries increased by 50.8% and 30.0% respectively.
The vitality of development is continuously enhanced. Continuously polish the brand of "Beijing Services", revise the Regulations on Optimizing the Business Environment in Beijing, and comprehensively complete 413 annual reform tasks for optimizing the business environment. The 12345 Enterprise Service Hotline accepted enterprise demands throughout the year, and the solution rate reached 97.5%. Various policies benefiting enterprises accurately reached the enterprises. Throughout the year, 315,000 new business entities were established, among which 265,000 new enterprises were established, mainly concentrated in industries such as scientific research and technical services, leasing and business services, and wholesale and retail. The profit margins of above-scale industrial enterprises and service enterprises were 6.5% and 22.3% respectively, an increase of 0.4 and 3.7 percentage points respectively compared with the previous year.
The transformation towards green and low-carbon development is being accelerated. Among the installed power generation capacity of the whole city, the proportion of the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation was 22.0%, an increase of 1.6 percentage points compared with the previous year; the proportion of the power generation of renewable energy sources such as biomass energy, hydropower, solar energy and wind energy in the total power generation was 12.5%, an increase of 1.7 percentage points compared with the previous year. The water consumption per 10,000 yuan of regional gross domestic product was 8.4 cubic meters, a decrease of 1.65% at constant prices compared with the previous year.
The coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei is being promoted in depth. Throughout the year, 104 general manufacturing enterprises were relocated and upgraded. The construction of the sub-center of the city maintained an investment scale of 100 billion yuan for 5 consecutive years. The main project of the comprehensive transportation hub of the sub-center station was completed, and the Tongzhou Campus of Beijing Anzhen Hospital opened for operation. Collaborative innovation and industrial cooperation have been continuously deepened. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei National Technology Innovation Center is being constructed efficiently. The Tianjin Center has achieved physical operation, and the Xiong'an Center has started operation. The transaction volume of technology contracts flowing from Beijing to Tianjin and Hebei was 84.37 billion yuan, an increase of 12.7% compared with the previous year; accelerate the implementation of the industrial layout of the "Six Industrial Chains and Five Clusters" [6], and successfully applied for and established 5 national advanced manufacturing industry clusters such as integrated circuits and the application innovation of the new generation of information technology. Strengthen the joint construction, prevention and control of the ecological environment. The average concentration of PM2.5 in the "2+36" [7] cities in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and surrounding areas was 42.2 micrograms per cubic meter, a decrease of 0.9% compared with the previous year. Deepen medical and educational cooperation. The number of mutual recognition projects among medical institutions in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei has reached 90; the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Vocational Education Reform Demonstration Zone was established, and more than 1,000 freshmen were enrolled in the first batch.
II. Agriculture
The total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery for the whole year was 25.57 billion yuan, an increase of 1.7% at comparable prices compared with the previous year. Among them, the output value of agriculture (planting) was 13.96 billion yuan, an increase of 2.8%; the output value of forestry was 6.41 billion yuan, a decrease of 1.6%. The sown area of grain crops throughout the year was 94,000 hectares, an increase of 5.3%, and the total grain output was 576,000 tons, an increase of 20.6%; the output of vegetables and edible fungi was 2.02 million tons, a decrease of 2.6%; at the end of the year, the number of live pigs on hand was 287,000, and the number of pigs slaughtered was 200,000. The sown area of facility agriculture was 448,000 mu, and the output value was 5.95 billion yuan. There were 1,110 leisure agriculture parks, an increase of 6.3%; they received 8.871 million tourists and achieved a total income of 1.97 billion yuan. There were 7,633 rural tourism households and units, receiving 13.994 million tourists and achieving a total income of 1.62 billion yuan, an increase of 9.8% and 7.9% respectively.
Solidly promote the project of "Demonstrating 100 Villages and Revitalizing 1,000 Villages". Strengthen the construction of comprehensive agricultural production capacity, newly build 135,000 mu of high-standard farmland, and transform and newly build 3,500 mu of facility greenhouses. Accelerate the construction of the Agricultural Zhongguancun, and initially form a new pattern of staggered development and coordinated promotion of the "1 Core Area + 7 Radiation Areas" [8]. The whole city has cumulatively built 6 national modern agricultural industrial parks, 6 strong agricultural industrial towns, and 120 key leading enterprises in agricultural industrialization [9], including 48 at the national level.
III. Industry and Construction
The added value of industry for the whole year was 593.76 billion yuan, an increase of 6.6% at constant prices compared with the previous year. Among them, the added value of above-scale industries [10] increased by 6.7% at comparable prices; among the key industries, the computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry increased by 21.4%, the automobile manufacturing industry increased by 16.4%, the electricity, heat production and supply industry increased by 6.5%, and the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry increased by 1.5%. Above-scale industries achieved a sales output value of 2,483.04 billion yuan, an increase of 6.8%. Among them, the domestic sales output value was 2,284.23 billion yuan, an increase of 6.3%; the export delivery value was 199.80 billion yuan, an increase of 12.0%. The output of products in high-end or emerging fields such as new energy vehicles, industrial robots, and wind turbine generator sets increased by 2.8 times, 61.0% and 27.6% respectively.

The operating income of above-scale industrial enterprises in the whole city reached 2,987.10 billion yuan, an increase of 7.0% compared with the previous year; the total profit achieved was 194.73 billion yuan, an increase of 16.2%.
Throughout the year, construction enterprises with general contracting and professional contracting qualifications completed a total output value of 1,402.72 billion yuan in construction, a decrease of 2.0% compared with the previous year. Among them, 400.00 billion yuan was completed in the city, an increase of 0.7%; 1,002.72 billion yuan was completed in other provinces, a decrease of 3.1%. The newly signed contract value this year was 1,740.18 billion yuan, a decrease of 13.1%.
IV. Transportation, Post and Telecommunications
The freight volume for the whole year was 271.152 million tons, an increase of 5.4% compared with the previous year; the freight turnover volume was 94.91 billion ton-kilometers, an increase of 4.2%. The passenger volume for the whole year was 557.654 million person-times, an increase of 12.0%; the passenger turnover volume was 239.94 billion person-kilometers, an increase of 27.2%.

At the end of the year, the total number of motor vehicles in the city was 7.882 million, an increase of 293,000 compared with the end of the previous year. There were 6.476 million civilian vehicles, an increase of 100,000. Among them, there were 5.529 million private cars, an increase of 98,000. Among private cars, there were 5.165 million passenger cars, among which there were 642,000 new energy passenger cars, an increase of 114,000.

The total business volume of the postal industry [11] completed throughout the year was 34.13 billion standard units, an increase of 5.2% at comparable prices compared with the previous year. The postal industry completed 97.308 million pieces of postal letter business and 2.69 billion express delivery pieces, an increase of 18.5%. The total volume of telecommunications services [12] completed throughout the year was 61.28 billion yuan, an increase of 5.5% at comparable prices. At the end of the year, there were 348,000 mobile phone base stations, including 162,000 4G base stations and 134,000 5G base stations, and the number of 5G base stations increased by 26,000 compared with the previous year. At the end of the year, there were 40.386 million mobile phone users, among which 23.084 million were 5G users, accounting for 57.2% of the mobile phone users; the penetration rate of mobile phones was 185 units per 100 people. At the end of the year, the number of fixed Internet broadband access users reached 9.921 million, an increase of 6.3%, among which the number of users with gigabit and above was 2.824 million, an increase of 23.5%; the mobile Internet access traffic was 7.45 billion GB, an increase of 12.7%.
V. The Financial Industry
By the end of the year, the balance of various deposits in local and foreign currencies of financial institutions (including foreign-funded ones) in the city was 25.2 trillion yuan, an increase of 2.2% compared with the end of the previous year. Among them, the balance of various deposits in RMB was 24.6 trillion yuan, an increase of 2.1%. The balance of various loans in local and foreign currencies of financial institutions (including foreign-funded ones) in the city was 11.7 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.7% compared with the end of the previous year. Among them, the balance of various loans in RMB was 11.5 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.2%. The balance of inclusive small and micro loans of financial institutions in the city was 1.1 trillion yuan, an increase of 14.6%.

Throughout the year, the total volume of securities transactions was 238.5 trillion yuan, an increase of 12.8% compared with the previous year. Among them, the volume of bond transactions was 182.8 trillion yuan, an increase of 12.9%; the volume of stock transactions was 43.4 trillion yuan, an increase of 10.7%; the volume of fund transactions was 11.7 trillion yuan, an increase of 17.0%. By the end of the year, there were 262 listed companies on the Beijing Stock Exchange, with 23 new additions during the year, and the total market value was 538.6 billion yuan. The total transaction amount of stock trading throughout the year was 2,973.58 billion yuan, increasing by 3.1 times compared with the previous year.
Throughout the year, the original insurance premium income achieved was 354.86 billion yuan, an increase of 5.7% compared with the previous year. Among them, the premium income of property insurance and personal insurance was 52.58 billion yuan and 302.28 billion yuan respectively, increasing by 1.1% and 6.5% respectively. The total amount of insurance compensation and payment of various types throughout the year was 104.72 billion yuan, an increase of 17.6%. Among them, the compensation and payment of property insurance and personal insurance were 36.44 billion yuan and 68.28 billion yuan respectively, increasing by 5.1% and 25.6% respectively.
VI. Fixed Asset Investment and Real Estate Development
Throughout the year, fixed asset investment (excluding that by rural households) increased by 5.1% compared with the previous year. Among them, driven by the support of the policies for "two important aspects" and "two new areas", the investment in equipment procurement increased by 32.1%, accounting for 20.6% of the fixed asset investment, an increase of 4.2 percentage points compared with the previous year, and the investment in infrastructure increased by 17.7%. By industry, the investment in the primary industry increased by 4.9%; the investment in the secondary industry increased by 22.8%, of which the manufacturing industry increased by 33.8%; the investment in the tertiary industry increased by 2.9%. Among them, the leasing and business service industry, the water conservancy, environment and public facilities management industry, the scientific research and technical service industry, and the information transmission, software and information technology service industry increased by 78.4%, 73.9%, 33.9% and 30.4% respectively.
Throughout the year, the investment in real estate development decreased by 10.6% compared with the previous year. The floor area of buildings under construction in the city was 113.095 million square meters, a decrease of 9.8% compared with the previous year. Among them, the newly started floor area in the current year was 12.869 million square meters, an increase of 2.4%. The floor area of buildings completed throughout the year was 16.525 million square meters, a decrease of 21.8%. The sales area of newly built commercial housing throughout the year was 11.187 million square meters, a decrease of 1.2%.

Throughout the year, 71,000 sets (rooms) of affordable rental housing were built and raised, and 83,000 sets (rooms) of various types of affordable housing were completed. A total of 742 old residential communities started the renovation project and 548 were newly completed in the city.
VII. Market Consumption
Throughout the year, the total market consumption [13] increased by 2.1% compared with the previous year. Among them, the consumption of service increased by 6.1%; the total retail sales of social consumer goods reached 1,409.24 billion yuan, a decrease of 2.7%. Among the total retail sales of social consumer goods, the online retail sales of wholesale and retail enterprises [14] above the designated size, and accommodation and catering enterprises [15] above the designated size reached 578.66 billion yuan, an increase of 1.7%. Among the wholesale and retail enterprises above the designated size, the retail sales of gold, silver and jewelry, and sports and entertainment products increased by 15.9% and 3.1% respectively. The retail sales of household appliances and audio-visual equipment products increased by 9.5% driven by the policy of "trade-in" of consumer goods, and the retail sales of new energy vehicles increased by 22.6%.
We have steadily promoted the cultivation and construction of Beijing as an international consumption center city. 17 large-scale commercial facilities were newly added, with a commercial area of over 1.5 million square meters; 960 first stores were newly introduced, 14 more than the previous year; by the end of the year, the number of tax refund stores for outbound tourists reached 1,147, 89 more than the end of the previous year.

VIII. Foreign Economy
Throughout the year, the total value of goods import and export in the Beijing area was 3,608.35 billion yuan, a decrease of 1.0% compared with the previous year. Among them, the export value was 606.55 billion yuan, an increase of 1.1%; the import value was 3,001.80 billion yuan, a decrease of 1.4%. The total value of import and export between the Beijing area and countries jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative was 2,119.77 billion yuan, accounting for 58.7% of the total value of import and export in the area.

Throughout the year, 2,012 new foreign-funded enterprises were established, an increase of 16.4% compared with the previous year. The actual foreign direct investment used was 7.23 billion US dollars, a decrease of 47.3%. Among them, the scientific research and technical service industry accounted for 3.74 billion US dollars, accounting for 51.7%; the leasing and business service industry accounted for 1.85 billion US dollars, accounting for 25.6%; the information transmission, software and information technology service industry accounted for 0.38 billion US dollars, accounting for 5.3%.

Throughout the year, the non-financial outbound direct investment of enterprises was 8.44 billion US dollars, an increase of 3.8% compared with the previous year. Among them, the direct investment in countries jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative was 0.81 billion US dollars, an increase of 36.7%.
Throughout the year, the turnover of overseas contracted projects completed was 5.29 billion US dollars, an increase of 1.1% compared with the previous year. A total of 35,000 various types of labor service personnel were dispatched in overseas labor cooperation, an increase of 40.7%, and the total actual income of labor service personnel was 0.57 billion US dollars, an increase of 9.7%.
We have deeply promoted the construction of the "Two Districts" [16]. Among the key industries with expanded opening up of the service industry, a total of 1,520 new foreign-funded enterprises were established in the scientific research and technical service industry, the leasing and business service industry, and the culture, sports and entertainment industry, accounting for 75.5% of the total number of new foreign-funded enterprises established in the city; the operating income of foreign-funded enterprises above the designated size in the information transmission, software and information technology service industry and the financial industry increased by 16.1% and 15.2% respectively compared with the previous year. 321 new foreign-funded enterprises were established in the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone (hereinafter referred to as the Pilot Free Trade Zone), accounting for 16.0% of the total number of new foreign-funded enterprises established in the city, an increase of 1.1 percentage points compared with the previous year; the operating income of foreign-funded enterprises above the designated size in the Pilot Free Trade Zone increased by 4.6% compared with the previous year, accounting for 34.1% of the operating income of foreign-funded enterprises above the designated size in the city, an increase of 0.4 percentage points compared with the previous year.
IX. Urban Construction and Work Safety
By the end of the year, the highway mileage in the city was 22,559.6 kilometers, an increase of 126.2 kilometers compared with the end of the previous year. Among them, the mileage of expressways was 1,276.1 kilometers, an increase of 65 kilometers. By the end of the year, the urban road mileage was 6,296 kilometers, an increase of 31.4 kilometers compared with the end of the previous year.
By the end of the year, there were 29 operating rail transit lines, 2 more than the end of the previous year; the operating line length was 879 kilometers, an increase of 43 kilometers; the number of operating vehicles was 7,708, an increase of 196; the total passenger volume throughout the year was 3.62 billion person-times, an increase of 4.9%. By the end of the year, there were 1,261 operating routes of public buses and trolleybuses, with an operating route length of 29,084.1 kilometers, 21,972 operating vehicles, and the total passenger volume throughout the year was 2.10 billion person-times.
By the end of the year, there were 947,000 shared bicycles, an increase of 31,000 compared with the end of the previous year.
Throughout the year, the sales volume of tap water was 1.349 billion cubic meters, an increase of 5.6% compared with the previous year. Among them, the consumption in industry and construction was 0.110 billion cubic meters, a decrease of 2.7%; the consumption in the service industry was 0.496 billion cubic meters, an increase of 3.5%; the consumption of urban and rural households was 0.717 billion cubic meters, an increase of 9.0%.
Throughout the year, the electricity consumption in the Beijing area was 138.94 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 2.3% compared with the previous year. Among them, the production electricity consumption was 105.36 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 3.0%; the electricity consumption for urban and rural residents' living was 33.58 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 0.4%.
Throughout the year, the total supply of natural gas [17] was 19.53 billion cubic meters, a decrease of 3.2% compared with the previous year; the total supply of liquefied petroleum gas was 99,000 tons, a decrease of 19.7%. By the end of the year, there were 10.117 million gas household users, an increase of 1.8%; among them, there were 7.996 million natural gas household users, an increase of 2.6%. By the end of the year, the length of gas pipelines was 34,784 kilometers, an increase of 3.3%.
Throughout the year, the central heating area of more than 100,000 square meters was 745 million square meters, an increase of 3.4% compared with the previous year.
Throughout the year, a total of 302 production safety death accidents occurred, resulting in 316 deaths. The mortality rate of production safety accidents per unit of regional GDP [18] was 0.634 people per 10 billion yuan.
X. People's Livelihood and Social Security
Throughout the year, the per capita disposable income of residents in the city was 85,415 yuan, an increase of 4.5% compared with the previous year. After deducting price factors, the actual growth was 4.4%. Judging from the composition of the four types of income, the per capita wage income of residents was 54,670 yuan, an increase of 5.9%; the per capita net operating income was 1,075 yuan, an increase of 4.8%; the per capita net property income was 12,205 yuan, a decrease of 0.6%; the per capita net transfer income was 17,465 yuan, an increase of 3.9%. The per capita disposable income of urban residents was 92,464 yuan, an increase of 4.3% compared with the previous year; the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 39,856 yuan, an increase of 6.7%. The ratio of per capita disposable income between urban and rural residents was 2.32, narrowing by 0.05 compared with the previous year.
Throughout the year, the per capita consumption expenditure of residents in the city was 49,748 yuan, an increase of 4.5% compared with the previous year. Among them, the per capita consumption expenditure of urban residents was 53,214 yuan, an increase of 4.6%; the per capita consumption expenditure of rural residents was 27,349 yuan, an increase of 4.1%.

By the end of the year, the number of people participating in the basic endowment insurance for enterprise employees, unemployment insurance and work-related injury insurance was 18.294 million, 14.374 million and 13.881 million respectively, an increase of 279,000, 190,000 and 242,000 respectively compared with the end of the previous year. The number of people participating in the basic medical insurance and maternity insurance for urban employees was 15.314 million and 11.105 million respectively. By the end of the year, the number of people participating in the basic old-age security for urban and rural residents was 1.726 million, and the number of people participating in the basic medical insurance for urban and rural residents was 4.021 million. By the end of the year, there were 639 civil affairs service institutions providing accommodation of various types, with 116,000 beds and 53,000 people in the institutions. By the end of the year, a total of 2,410 elderly meal assistance sites had been built, including 1,553 elderly care service institutions, 600 social catering enterprises, and 257 elderly dining tables and unit canteens, covering 6,539 urban and rural communities and more than 4.53 million people.
XI. Science, Technology and Education Accelerate the construction of an international science and technology innovation center. By the end of the year, there were 145 national key laboratories in Beijing, accounting for 28.2% of the national total. The newly established government investment funds have been expanded to 8 investment fields, with a total scale reaching 100 billion yuan, supporting strategic, cutting-edge and key equity financing projects. By the end of the year, there were 69 national-level science and technology business incubators in the city. Throughout the year, there were more than 29,700 national high-tech enterprises. By the end of the year, a total of 10,199 municipal-level "specialized, refined, characteristic and innovative" enterprises and 1,035 national-level "little giant" specialized, refined, characteristic and innovative enterprises had been identified. By the end of the year, there were 115 unicorn enterprises in total, with a total market valuation of 594.9 billion US dollars. Throughout the year, 120,000 invention patents were authorized, an increase of 10.9% compared with the previous year. By the end of the year, there were 663,000 valid invention patents, an increase of 15.5%. The number of PCT international patent applications was 12,000, an increase of 5.7%. The number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 people was 159.81, an increase of 22.86. Throughout the year, a total of 102,910 technology contracts were identified and registered, a decrease of 3.4%. The transaction value of technology contracts was 915.33 billion yuan, an increase of 7.2%. During the year, the first national artificial intelligence data training base was established, the world's first general artificial intelligence entity "Tongtong" was officially released, 105 large models were filed and launched, the world's first anthropomorphic running of a full-size humanoid robot driven purely by electricity was achieved, the intelligent deployment of facilities in the high-level autonomous driving demonstration area covering 600 square kilometers was completed, 29 scientific and technological facilities of the Huairou Comprehensive National Science Center were promoted to enter the research state, and the Beinao II filled the gap in domestic brain-computer interface technology. Throughout the year, the total R&D expenses [20] of key large and medium-sized enterprises above a designated size [19] reached 395.80 billion yuan, an increase of 5.1% compared with the previous year. By industry, the R&D expenses of industrial enterprises were 62.18 billion yuan, an increase of 17.6%; the R&D expenses of enterprises in the information transmission, software and information technology service industry were 297.52 billion yuan, an increase of 3.3%; the R&D expenses of enterprises in the scientific research and technical service industry were 36.10 billion yuan, an increase of 0.5%. As the main platform for the construction of Beijing's international science and technology innovation center, the total R&D expenses of key large and medium-sized enterprises within the "Three Cities and One District" were 271.89 billion yuan, an increase of 4.3%, accounting for 68.7% of the R&D expenses of key large and medium-sized enterprises in the whole city. Throughout the year, the enrollment of postgraduate education (including scientific research institutions) was 157,000, the number of postgraduate students in school was 475,000, and the number of graduates was 126,000. The enrollment of undergraduate and junior college students in general higher education institutions (including higher vocational colleges) was 179,000, the number of students in school was 634,000, and the number of graduates was 154,000. The enrollment of adult undergraduate and junior college students in the whole city was 32,000, the number of students in school was 77,000, and the number of graduates was 29,000. The enrollment of various secondary vocational education (excluding technical schools) was 19,000, the number of students in school was 62,000, and the number of graduates was 16,000. The enrollment of ordinary senior high schools was 82,000, the number of students in school was 236,000, and the number of graduates was 60,000. The enrollment of ordinary junior high schools was 161,000, the number of students in school was 411,000, and the number of graduates was 112,000. The enrollment of ordinary primary schools was 193,000, the number of students in school was 1,169,000, and the number of graduates was 173,000. The enrollment of special education was 1,374, the number of students in school was 8,150, and the number of graduates was 1,690. The enrollment of preschool education was 140,000, and the number of children in kindergartens was 476,000. Throughout the year, there were 15 private colleges and universities, with 59,000 students. There were 128 private secondary education schools (excluding technical schools), with 34,000 students. There were 35 private primary schools, with 37,000 students. There were 1,054 private kindergartens, with 188,000 children in kindergartens. XII. Culture, Tourism, Public Health and Sports By the end of the year, there were 20 public libraries (including the National Library of China), with a total circulation of 32.744 million person-times; 18 national archives, with a collection of 12.627 million volumes of paper archives; 241 registered museums, of which 148 were open to the public free of charge; 18 cultural centers and 339 cultural stations. There were 3,498 kinds of newspapers and periodicals registered in the Beijing area, 222 book publishing units, and 11,432 publication distribution units. Throughout the year, 6,652 copyrights of publications were introduced, and 1.29 million copyrights (author's rights) were registered. By the end of the year, there were 6.285 million actual cable TV users, including 3.095 million actual high-definition TV users and 2.328 million actual ultra-high-definition (4K) TV users. Throughout the year, 21 TV dramas with 715 episodes, 79 documentaries, 28 online dramas, 39 online movies, 122 online short dramas and 24 online animations were produced. Throughout the year, 240 movies were produced, there were 30 cinema lines and 332 cinemas in total, with a total of 3.131 million movie screenings, 40.269 million viewers, and a box office revenue of 2.09 billion yuan. Throughout the year, 352 performance venues [21] held 57,243 performances, an increase of 15.6% compared with the previous year; the number of viewers was 12.808 million person-times, an increase of 12.5%; the total performance revenue was 4.0 billion yuan, an increase of 73.6%. The total revenue of legal entities in the cultural and related industries above a designated size in the whole city reached 2,302.26 billion yuan, an increase of 6.6% compared with the previous year. Throughout the year, the total number of tourists received was 370 million person-times, an increase of 13.1% compared with the previous year; the total tourism revenue achieved was 672.24 billion yuan, an increase of 14.9%. Among them, 370 million domestic tourists were received, an increase of 12.3%, and the domestic tourism revenue was 637.29 billion yuan, an increase of 11.2%; 3.942 million inbound tourists were received, an increase of 1.9 times, and the international tourism foreign exchange revenue was 4.91 billion US dollars, an increase of 1.5 times. By the end of the year, there were 12,285 medical and health institutions [22], including 774 hospitals, 9 more than the previous year. The actual number of beds in medical and health institutions was 1.41 million, an increase of 20,000, of which the number of hospital beds was 1.33 million. There were 345,000 health technical personnel, an increase of 2,315, of which 135,000 were practicing (assistant) physicians and 153,000 were registered nurses, an increase of 1,110 and 312 respectively. The total number of diagnosis and treatment visits in medical institutions was 301.661 million person-times, an increase of 3.7%. Throughout the year, 16 sports parks were renovated and expanded, and 340 sports and fitness activity venues such as football and basketball courts were newly built or updated. Throughout the year, Beijing athletes won a total of 46 medals in international competitions, including 29 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 4 bronze medals; they won 208 medals in national competitions, including 66 gold medals, 56 silver medals and 86 bronze medals. At the 33rd Summer Olympic Games, Beijing athletes won a total of 8 medals, including 5 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. Throughout the year, Beijing disabled athletes won a total of 46 medals in international competitions, including 20 gold medals, 11 silver medals and 15 bronze medals; they won 47 medals in national competitions, including 11 gold medals, 19 silver medals and 17 bronze medals. At the 17th Summer Paralympic Games, Beijing disabled athletes won a total of 9 medals, including 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 5 bronze medals. XIII. Resources and Urban Environment Throughout the year, the total supply of construction land in the city was 3,443 hectares. Among them, the supply of special, transportation and water-related construction land [23] was 1,231 hectares, the supply of land for public administration and public services was 687 hectares, the supply of residential land was 1,063 hectares, and the supply of industrial land was 462 hectares. Throughout the year, the total water resources were 5.290 billion cubic meters, an increase of 27.4% compared with the previous year. By the end of the year, the total storage capacity of large and medium-sized reservoirs was 4.420 billion cubic meters, an increase of 0.687 billion cubic meters. The groundwater depth in the plain area [24] was 12.26 meters by the end of the year, rebounding by 2.48 meters compared with the end of the previous year. The total water consumption for production and living throughout the year was 2.534 billion cubic meters, an increase of 0.2%. Among them, the domestic water consumption (including water consumption in the service industry and urban and rural households) was 1.697 billion cubic meters, an increase of 2.2%; among the production water consumption, the agricultural water consumption was 0.237 billion cubic meters, a decrease of 5.6%; the industrial water consumption was 0.271 billion cubic meters, an increase of 1.1%. The annual sewage treatment rate was 97.5%, an increase of 0.2 percentage points compared with the previous year; among them, the sewage treatment rate in the six urban districts was 99.7%. The city cleared and disposed of 7.9377 million tons of domestic waste, with an average daily amount of 21,700 tons. Among them, there were 6.1707 million tons of other waste, with an average daily amount of 16,900 tons; there were 1.7670 million tons of kitchen waste, with an average daily amount of 4,800 tons. There were 34 centralized domestic waste treatment facilities in the city, with an actual treatment capacity of 32,126 tons per day. The four major pollutants in the city's atmospheric environment continuously and stably met the national second-level air quality standard. Among them, the annual average concentrations of fine particulate matter (PM2.5), inhalable particulate matter (PM10), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) were 30.5 micrograms per cubic meter, 54 micrograms per cubic meter, 24 micrograms per cubic meter and 3 micrograms per cubic meter respectively. Throughout the year, 676 hectares of afforestation and greening were newly added (including the renewal of afforestation in national land greening projects), the forest coverage rate was 44.95%, the urban greening coverage rate was 49.84%, and the per capita park green space area was 16.96 square meters.
