About

Accessibility Statement

Our accessibility commitments, measured against WCAG 2.2 AA, and how to give feedback.

China Population Atlas aims to be usable by as many people as possible, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification and reduced-motion settings.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA and to follow the spirit of the US ADA and Section 508. Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time certification.

Measures in place

  • Semantic HTML landmarks, headings, tables and breadcrumbs.
  • Keyboard-accessible navigation, forms, menus, theme and currency controls.
  • Visible focus styles, skip-to-content links and text alternatives for charts.
  • Responsive layouts, scalable text and light/dark themes.
  • Reduced-motion support and no autoplay media.

Known limitations

Some data tables are wide and require horizontal scrolling on small screens. Inline SVG charts provide accessible labels and summaries, but complex visual relationships may be easier to read in the accompanying tables. Third-party advertising and analytics, when enabled, are outside our direct control.

Feedback

If you encounter a barrier, please contact us through the details on the About page with the page URL, browser and a description of the issue. We will review reports and respond within a reasonable period.
