Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, referred to as "Xin", is a provincial administrative region of the People's Republic of China, with its capital city being Urumqi City.

It is located in the northwest of China and is one of the five ethnic autonomous regions in China. With an area of 1.6649 million square kilometers, it is the largest provincial administrative region in terms of land area in China, accounting for about one sixth of the total land area of China.

As of January 2023, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region administers 4 prefecture-level cities, 5 regions, 5 autonomous prefectures, and 12 county-level cities directly under the central government. It is located between 73°40′ and 96°18′ east longitude and between 34°25′ and 48°10′ north latitude.
