BASIC INFORMATION

Guizhou Province, referred to as "Qian" or "Gui", is a provincial administrative region of the People's Republic of China, with its capital city being Guiyang City.

It is located in the central part of China, bordering Sichuan and Chongqing in the north, Hunan in the east, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Yunnan in the south, and west. The province covers a total area of 176,200 square kilometers.

As of March 2021, Guizhou Province administers 6 local-level governments (including three ethnic autonomous prefectures), namely Guiyang, Zunyi, Liupanshui, Anshun, Bijie and Tongren; 30 counties and cities, including 16 cities, 8 counties directly under the central government and 6 special administrative regions; 169 towns; and 193 townships. In addition, there are 88 county-level governments, including 16 districts, 16 cities under district-level governments and 56 county-level governments.

Guizhou Province is located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau and falls between 103°36′ and 109°35′ east longitude and 24°37′ and 29°13′ north latitude. The most eastern point is Dihu Township, Tianshu Village, Qiandongnan Prefecture; the most western point is Yulong Village, Weining County, Bijie City; the most southern point is Luoyuan Village, Xingyi City, Xixinan Prefecture; and the most northern point is Yangxi Town, Daozhen County, Zunyi City.

At of the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023, the province's resident population was 38.56 million, an increase of 40,000 over the previous year. Among them, the urban resident population was 21.14 million, accounting for 54.81% of the total resident population at the end of the year, an increase of 0.48 percentage points over the previous year.

The annual birth population was 425,000 with a birth rate of 11.03‰; the death population was 2.82 million with a mortality rate of 7.32‰; and the natural growth rate was 3.71‰.
