BASIC INFORMATION

Hainan Province, abbreviated as Qiong, is a provincial administrative region of China located in the southernmost part of the country. It borders Guangdong across the Qiongzhou Strait to the north, faces Guangxi and Vietnam across the Beibu Bay to the west, and Taiwan across the South China Sea to the east.

It neighbors the Philippines, Brunei, and Malaysia in the southeast and south over the South China Sea. With a total area of 35,400 square kilometers, Hainan has a tropical oceanic monsoon climate. The province governs 4 prefecture-level cities and 15 county-level administrative units directly under the province. The capital city is Haikou, where the government is located at No. 9 Guoxing Avenue.
