BASIC INFORMATION

Hubei Province, referred to as "E" and also known as Chu or Jingchu, is a provincial administrative region of the People's Republic of China.

Its capital city is Wuhan and it is located in the central region of China.

It is situated between 29°01′53″ and 33°6′47″ north latitude and between 108°21′42″ and 116°07′50″ east longitude.

With a length of approximately 740 kilometers from east to west and a width of approximately 470 kilometers from north to south, it covers a total area of 185,900 square kilometers, accounting for 1.94% of China's total area.

As of December 31, 2022, Hubei Province consists of 12 prefecture-level cities, 1 autonomous prefecture, 39 urban districts, 26 county-level cities, 37 counties (including 2 autonomous counties), and 1 forestry district.

The terrain of Hubei Province is generally mountainous on the east, west, and north sides, with a low and flat area in the center, forming an incomplete basin that opens slightly towards the south.

Among the province's total area, mountains account for 56%, hills account for 24%, and plains and lakes account for 20%. It belongs to the Yangtze River system.

It is bordered by Anhui on the east, Chongqing on the west, Shaanxi on the northwest, Jiangxi and Hunan on the south, and Henan on the north. The easternmost point is Huangmei County, the westernmost point is Lichuan City, the southernmost point is Laifeng County, and the northernmost point is Yunxi County.
