Chongqing, referred to as "Yu". Chongqing is located in the southwest of China and the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, spanning the transition zone between the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It neighbors Hubei and Hunan in the east, Guizhou in the south, Sichuan in the west, and Shaanxi in the north; its jurisdiction extends 470 kilometers east-west and 450 kilometers north-south, covering an area of 82,400 square kilometers.
